SCARE AT PIRINOA

YOUNG DESPERADOES

JUVENILE BUSHRANGING

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") MASTEJRTON, This Day. A stir has been occasioned in tho Pirinoa district by tho actions of two youths, who decamped on Friday night, mounted-on bicycles which they allegedly took from outside tho Pirinoa Hall while a picture entertainment was in progress. It was at first thought that the culprits would leave the dis, trict before daybreak, but ' evidently they had plans in another direction.

Mr.'Samuel Antony, who resides in a house on' Mr. M'Lean's property at Mahawhero, on returning to his house on Sunday, found that it had been broken' into and a rifle, ammunition, and yarious canned foods taken. Mr. Antony, who is a first-class bushman and knows the hill country very well, found tracks leading for some distance up the river. On Saturday night Mr. Piripi, of Kohunui, had a riflo and an axe removed from his residence. Late on Sunday night two rifle shots were fired over a certain residence, which Btartled the occupants. On Monday at midday two youths were seen by several children in the vicinity. A large posse of residents under the direction of Constable Sleeth is sparing no pains to apprehend the culprits. The younger of the two youths alleged to be concerned is a European and his companion is a Maori, both boys being employed out on license. Up to a late hour last night the missing boys had not been apprehended, although a large party was scouring the district.
