REPAIRS TO HOSPITAL THE EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE (From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 7th January. Miss j>l. G. Isaac, senior assistant on the staff of tho Nelson Girls' College, j accompanied by her sister, Miss Phyllis Isaac, of Victoria College, leaves by the Ulimaroa on Friday on a world! tour in which Australia, England, Italy, | France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, and South Africa are included. | The Minister of Education, the Hon., H. Atmore, returned to Wellington last. evening. There is only one rink going from Nelson to the Dominion bowling tournament at Dunedin. The rink, which is from the Maitai Club, is Messrs. G. Piper, W. Brundell, A. la Frentz, and G. P. Russell. , The South Island competition' for the "Press" miniature rifle shooting Shield, for competition between caclet companies, inclusive of secondary schools, has been won by the Nelson City Cadets, who hold the trophy for twelvo months. > Voluntary non-commissioned officers' camps at Burnhain are popular i.vitk Nelson cadets. Next Tuesday 15 city cadet n.c.o.'s leave for a general course from 16th to'SSrd January, and th.o following week 24 n.c.o.'s and five officers from the College Company leave for a course which will include signalling and machine-gun instruction. At to-day's meeting of the Nelson Hospital Board a tender of Messrs. Robertson Brothers, Limited, Nelson, of £6855 was accepted for tho repair of earthquake damage to tho tmilding. This was the lowest tender-, State grants will supply £5200.
