THE AIR DISASTER
MAN SEEN ON WRECKAGE SLIPPED OFF AND SANK (Keceived Oth, January, 11 a.m.) MELBOUENE, This Day. It is learned now that a Point Cook pilot, who was circling in a Moth 'plane over the scene of tho Widgeon crash, saw a man floating on the wreckage half an, hour after the occurrence. He recognised the figure as Aircraftsman Ewen, and swung his *plane round to come down with the intention of plunging near the wreckage, as "Moths will float for a.time. He meant to swim to the man on the wreckage, but as he turned to come down he saw the figure slip from the wreckago and sink. Searchers on the beaches yesterday recovered two flying caps from the rocks near Altoua. A small quantity of wreckago was also found. There is no trace, however, of the bodies. A search of the sea and beach will be continued for several days by aeroplanes.
