LOWER HUTT COURT
The monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, Mr. T. B. M'Neil, S.M., presiding. " . ■ ; Harry Turvey was charged with assaulting Francis James Bartosh bY striking him in the face with his fist. He pleaded guilty by letter. The police, stated that the offence had been committed in a dante hall at Taita. The. defendant had been drinking, and when, spoken to by Bartosh (one of the com-' mitteemen) had struck him. Turvey; was convicted and discharged. Fines of 10s in each case were imposed upon Eobert Chatterton Blair for riding a' motor-cycle at night without respective lights, and for having no driver's licence. For failing to give way to traffic approaching on his right John Clarke was fined 10s. Noel Herbert iSFesbit was fined £2 for a similar offence. ; Mark Ellis Gard pleaded guilty to - a charge of dangerous driving, and was fined £2. f \ For operating a motor-cycle without. an efficient silencer, Frederick Bobert •" Young was fined El, and for driving at a speed dangerpns to the public he was fined £5. It was ordered that this ' conviction be endorsed on his licencei1 Judgment for . the plaintiffs by de- - fault was given in the following undefended civil eases:—State AdvancesSuperintendent v.
