SPORTING ANNOUNCEMENTS

''During the holiday season (writes "CB.") I was informed that in future no sporting results were to be given from ?YA duriug the afternoon session, and that the sporting summary at 10.45 p.m. on Saturdays will not be presented. The reasons advanced by officials at 2YA are thiit the afternoon gramophoue recital is not to be interrupted, and that tho majority of listeners prefer dance music between 10.45 and 11 p.m. on Saturdays. . This action is too serious to let pass bzy. -• • There is no doubt that a very large "percentage of listeners the spotting sessions from 2YA. J> I Inquiry shows that "CB." is under a

misapprehension. The intention is, according to the information obtained by "Grid-Bias," to broadcast sporting results} at 3.30 and 4.30 p.ni. in the afternoon sessions, and again in the news session (7 lo 8 p.m.). If any additional results avo received they will be announced at 9 p.m. Although there may be a few peoplo who miss all these announcements, there arc probably not many who iiiul a list of sporting results at 11.45 highly desirable. The late programme of dance music is provided for people who like dancing; ami those who enjoy it certainly do not find the session so long that a curtailment is tvelcome.
