THE 12TH MAN
l am, etc., STUMPED
(To the Editor.)
Sic, —If ever there was a more unlucky individual, from a cricketer's viewpoint, than "the twelfth man," I should like to know who he is. It's perfectly clear, on recent happenings, that he has as much, chance of getting into the XI. as the proverbial celluloid cat had of getting through Hades. Why pick a twelfth man at all when any player in the country who has shown recent form has a better chance of Test team honours than he?, M'Leod lias proved his worth, and has, I consider, a Test match temperament, a great factor in a big game. Good luck to Folcy anyhow, but my sympathies are with M'Leod.—
