SPEEDWAY CONTESTS

SPECIAL RACES ARRANGED.

In addition to tho first appearance of hes. hpwrence, a noted Queensland motorcyclist, and the return of "Skid" Perkins, also o£ Australia, who are to have match races, there will be. special interest il 1.,??* 4. Satui'day night's meeting at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway in the return to active competition of a number of the leading local riders, who have been absent from a few meetings. A special scratch event has been arranged for the following riders:—P. M'Ghee, W. Harvie, B. Naylor, V. Grove, R. Ranby, and Tim Wilkinson. This should provide excellent competition, as also should the special series of events to determine the new holder of the Silver 'Gauntlet. There will bo other events to make up a full programme of racing, which is expected to bo of a keen and thrilling order, and in this W. Kilmister's performance will attract great attention, especially after this rider's notable achievements in Auckland this week. All the leading riders will be competing in the first division handicap. C. Spinks is still suffering from the effects of Jiis injury at the last meeting, and is not likely to compete for the Golden Helmet this week, but if at nil possible- he will appear. Other details regarding' Saturday's meeting are published elsewhere in this issue.

The following riders have been selected to compete for the Silver Gauntlet:— Blair, Lucchessi, Tonka, Young, M'Kay. Ij. TUnaldi,, V. Maugham, Viggavs, and Virlh. ~
