NEW ZEALAND PROTEST

A cablegram, dated London, 4th January, states that the Navy League has handed the British Prime Minister (Mr. Eamsay Mac Donald) and Mr. Alexander (First Lord of the Admiralty) the New Zealand branches' cabled protest against the delay in constructing the Singapore Base. "The full text of our cablegram," stated Mr. K. Darroch (secretary) to an "Evening Post" reporter this morning, "was: 'New Zealand branches Navy League protest delay Singapore Base.' This was sent a few days ago to our head office, London, and we asked them t< bring it under the notice of the proper authorities, which, a3 the London cablegram shows, they have,done. Our cablegram, was signed by our president, Mr. J. Waddell Smith, of Dunedin, and by myself, as secretary."
