There ure 22 church Mia in Lancashire that can with certainty be assigned to a date earlier than J550. The oldest bell exist* at Claug'hton, and dates to 1296. jfive or six bells can be assigned to the fourtewalh centuiy, and a i:ke number to the Bfte«aih century. Six dated bells beioug to tlie period 3550-1600.
