OBITUARY
A VETERAN CRICKETER (Received 6th January, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The death is announced of William Alfred Bichardson, member of the well-known cricketing family. He captained the State team, and played against the Englishmen in the 'nineties. His brother Charles is now in New I Zealand. The late Mr. W. A. Eichardson was a native of New South Wales, which State he represented on numerous occasions in cricket matches with other States, and with visiting English toams. He was a batsman of the aggressive type, a fine fieldsman, and a good change bowler. For New Soutli Wales he played in seven matches against Victoria, his figures for those games being: Batting 13 innings, three times not out, highest score 70, total runs IS2, average 18.20; bowling, 11 wickuts for 312 runs, average 28.36. He had been in ill health for some time, and was unable to see the recent match in Sydney with the M.C.C. team, but was able to follow the run of play per medium of the wireless. A brother, Mr. C. A. Eichardson, of Wellington, was also a prominent cricketer, having represented Wellington au<l New Zealand on many occasions.
