MIRAMAR CARNIVAL
There was a large audience at the Capitol Theatre, Miramar, Oast evening, when a coronation" ceremony was held by Miramar South school. . The first scene was enacted by children of the infant classes, who crowned their queen, Miss Liardet. Nursery rhyme characters were represented, and- the way in which the very young children behaved on the stage, and the beauty and originality of their eortmnes, reflected great credit on teachers and parents. The next scene was a Maori one/ in which the children, dressed in Maori attire, gave two hakas and a canoe song.. The last scene, the crowning of the senior queen, Miss Knock was a most involved ceremony, but it'went without a hitch, the princesses, chamberlains, ladies-in-waiting, and pages doing their parts as to the manner bbrn. Here again the costuming was outstanding, and the final ensemble was most effective During the evening presentations were made to Miss Whiteombe, headmistress of the infant school, Miss Battersby, and Miss Russell. Much of the success of the coronation was due to the organiser, Mrs. JNafaon. On leaving the stage each child was presented With a bo± of chocolates
