SHOPLIFTER DETECTED

AUCKLAND, This Day. Anna Alexander Mills, aged 43, pleaded guilty to-'a series of shoplifting charges and was fined £20 with an alternative of one month's imprisonment. The Chief Detective described theoffences as. a Christmas shoplifting tour. The accused had left home yesterday equipped for shoplifting with paper and string. She made a tour of five shops and stole something from all of them. In a ,big city shop a. girl assistant detected her stealing a dressing gown. Two years ago this woman was before the Court for a similar offence, being fined £20 on that occasion also. The Magistrate, Mr. F. X.-Hunt, said that if it was not for the bad state pf_ lrer health he would send her to prison for a month without the option.
