RAISING SCHOOL AGE

(Received 20th December, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 19th December. In the House of Commons, in answer to a question, Sir C. P. Trevelyan, Minister of Education, said that, the extra charge for education, together with maintenance allowance, would not exceed 5s weekly to parents of needy children. It would "make the cost of raising the school-leaving age to 15 years £5,500,000 a year, of which the Exchequer would pay £4,000,000.
