BEACH INSPECTOR'S HEROISM

SYDNEY, This Day. Two schoolgirls, Thelma Riley, la, and Elvy Hamilton, 9, were drowned in the surf at Thirroul on the South Coast. Two others of the same party were rescued at the point of exhaustion. The tragedy was relieved only by the heroism of the beach inspector, Jack Ranking who, after rescuing two. searched for the others. He had to be dragged forcibly from the water, and needed medical Attention.
