A HAPPY TIME COMING

MR. KERR'S PREDICTION

T.ie view tisat the country hail every confidence in the United Government because of the work it accomplished last session was expressed by Mr. Kerr at his meeting at Korokoro. As soon as the country recovered from the financial blow it had received under the Reform regime it would become happy and contented.

Mr. Kerr repeated that the present by-election fight was between United and .Labour. The Reform candidate was making a very poor showing, and tho electors fully realised that a vote for Eeform meant a vote for Socialism. Juggling with figures would not alter

the fact that the United Party had been presented with a deficit of £577,----000.

The actions of the Eeform. Party in regard to the railway workshops, the estimates on which had been greatly exceeded, showed that tho people had every reason to bo careful as to tho party in whose hands they placed the affairs of the country, said Mr. Kerr. There seemed to be more experts than workers in the workshops. The Eeform Party seemed to have had an utter disregard for the expenditure of public money in different directions. The money spent in railways by Eeform had been almost a scandal. The Eeform Party had never stood far the working man, but United had atood for him every time. In reinstating the shorter shifts of tho railwayman the United Party had given the mea that to which they were justly entitled. Tho other candidates might give all the promises possible, but fulfilling ' them was another matter. He represented the party in power—a party that had made promises, a party led by a man who, when he gave his word, kept it.

Mr. C. L. Fabian presided at the meeting, which accorded Mr. Kerr a vote of thanks and confidence. Mrs. B. B. Wood was present.
