PREMIER'S MESSAGE TO MR. KERR
Wet weather notwithstanding, many .P* jople were not to be deterred from a .ttending Hutt by-election campaign 'meetings last night. Mr. W. Nash, the Labour candidate, spoke at Moera, Mr. J. Kerr (United) at Koro Koro, and 4?i. H. F. Johnston (Reform) at Alicetown. Mr. James Kcrr, United candidate, has received the following message from Sir Joseph Ward:— As head of the Government, I extend to you my heartiest good wishes for your success at the forthcoming election and sincerely trust that the electors of the Hutt will return you to Parliament with a substantial majority on the evening of -the 18th inst. In my opinion, 3 Tou have by your good citizenship and your long residence in tho electorate, together with,your active participation in all public movements for the progress of the district, qualified yourself to ■represent your fellow-citizens in ■■• Parliament. lam very sorry that r- my indisposition prevents me from personally assisting you in your cam- - . paigu, but my most cordial wishes aro with you for a signal victory.— Joseph Ward.
