PIGEON RACING
The Petone Homing Pigeon Club flew a race last Saturday from Opua (420 miles). Having a favourable wind-, the birds covered the distance in 9 hours 24 minutes. This is the fastest time ever put up by the club from Opua. Tho following are the first eight birds to be timed in:—
- J. Bolton's re. h Sun Spot (velocity 1303 yards per minute), 1; W. Smith's be h Presentation (1302), 2: J. Bolton's be c Sun Yen (1301), 3; W. Smith's blk c Black Duke-. (1300.5); 4; A. Bold's be h Sensation (1300), 5; W. Smith's be h Wet Paint (1299), 0; H. Hall's be c Sonny (1205), 7; H. Hall's be c Blue Stone (1294), 8. The next race will bo flown from Culverden.
Ramsey Wilson and Co. will sol] Christmas toys, household furniture, and pianos at 2 p.m. to-morrow in their auction rooms (opp. Regent Theatre). Doherty's Auctioneering, Ltd.. 12 and 14. Manners street, will sell household furniture, piano, glassware, and toys at 2 p.m. to-morrow. , C...W. Price and Co., 9, Dixon street, will sell furniture and sundries in the mart to-morrow, commencing at 1.30 p.m.
