THE AEAPUNI SCHEME
TRIBUTE TO ENGINEERS

Excellent progress is being made by, three shifts of workmen at Arapuni. power station. The works have '.been inspected by Sir "William Noble, director of the British General Electric Company. ■ Messrs. W. B. Caithness and T. Taylor, Australian, and New Zealand directors .of the company respectively, were also in the party. ..It,was stated that it was expected to have "tie third unit in operation before-Christ-mas,] which would considerably reduce the volume. of. water falling below" the spillway. The -engineers were;:not now' greatly concerned with the erosion, between spillway and waterfalL ['-.'■■■

No expert could fail to be impressed with the courageous manner in .which the engineers had overcome the initial difdculties never wholly removed:from a large undertaking of that nature. "After seeing Arapuni to-day," Mr. Caithness said, "I; am more than ever convinced that it is a magnificent work that is being splendidly. handled.
