PLUNKET SOCIETY FETE
The fine grounds at the old residence ot the Prime Ministers in Tinakori road were-deligntfully occupied on Saturday afternoon by a largo party of vaults and children who attended the fete in aid of the Plunjcet Society funds. Mrs. Bernard Wood was the organiser, and was'assisted by members o± the society's committee. The weather cleared in a most obliging .and cheering manner; the attendance was good, and the pleasant result was the sum of £40 16s 9d. There were stalls with needlework, produce, cakes, ices, etc., these being on the lawn, while;1 to tho great joy of the children, there was a treasure hunt in the orchard, where the finding of coloured tickets led to the obtaining of prizes which also gave much satisfaction. Mrs. Wood, who was in Lido blue silk, and a hat to tone, was not only engaged in selling balloons, but.in superintending and helping in many directions. Mrs. Macarthy Reid had a popular "Aunt bally," which found: many adherents, and Mr. Vincent Ward and the Hon. w. A. Veiteh were excellent assistants as well as the "members of : the committee. Among those present were Lady Hosking, Mesdames M. Myers, H. Hall, W. A. Veiteh, Tythe Brown, G Nathan, C. White, M'Eldowney,'Misses Elsmie Ward, Campbell, Barnett, and many others. - -
The society notifies by advertisement the selling of the. cookerybooks to-mor-row and on Wednesday at N0..22, Willis street, in the shop lent by ''.Mr. Dwan, and it is hoped that many will take this opportunity of securing a most useful book with only tried recipes.'
