MR. KERR'S CAMPAIGN

MEETING AT PETONE

A meeting of the friends and supporters of Mr. James Kerr, United candidate for the Hutt constituency, was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Petone, last night. Mr. F. Campbell, Mr. Kerr's chairman of committees, was in the chair, and Mr. A. E. Davy, chairman of the executive of the United Party, was alao present. There was a large muster of supporters.

Mr. Kerr, in a short address, set out his principal points. He said he had nothing to say against the Labour candidate, but considered that he himself was a better Labour candidate —a man who represented the hard working members of the community.

The meeting expressed appreciation of Mr. Kerr's address, and resolved itself into a committee to advance his candidature. Mr. H. Ryder was elected chairman, and a large- number of subcommittees were set up. The meeting concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman and to Mr. Davy. ' '
