"SAVE THE COLLEGE"

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—As one who was unable to attend yesterday's meeting I write to commend the action taken by those present, and to promise whatsoever support I can lend to their efforts. I hope that steps will be taken to rouse Presbyterians—and others, not only in Wellington, but throughout the Dominion, to a sense of the issues involved. The establishment of the college, upon what appeared at the time, a sound basis, was the work of our predecessors and seniors. Its maintenance and protection is for us of this generation, to ensure. If we cannot, or do not bring to our task the same determination and devotion as the founders, the work of their hands will be destroyed; a future generation will have to start _all over again handicapped by this record of failure. It would be better had the college never been founded at all, than that such should be its end. The leaders in this present "Save the College" movement deserve our • gratitude and our wholehearted backing.—l am, etc.,
