ISLAND BAY SCHOOL.
Mr. D. C. Lennie presided over the monthly meeting of the Island Bay Home and School Association, held on Monday. It was reported that the annual school concert' would be held in December, and too annual picnic in February. The- secretary reported lliat a meeting of householders had been called to protest against the failure of the Government to increase the capitation to school committees.'. . . ■.•■■■
• It was decided to call a meeting early in the New, Year to form an Old- Scholars' Association; \
It was resolved that £2 be set aside tor the refilling, quarterly, of the sand pit at the infants' school, and to install a telephone at the school. It was decided to make a vigorous canvass o£ parents of scholars to enrol them as members of the association, -.r T,w. as reP°rted that the services of Mr. Prmgle, late of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders' Band, had been seecured as dram .instructor for the School xsand. •
