DEFENCE CASES

Defence cases were dealt frith in the i.-agistrate's Court on Tuesday by Mr A. A. Gower, J.P., and Captain T. 2. Hugo, J. P.

Failure to attend drill cost the following the amounts stated:—Jolm Smith, £1; Donald Larnach, Lawrence K. Mailman, Ernest W. G. Moller, Norman G. M'Kenzie, 10s each; Ivan T. Burgess, £1; James 0. Tait, ss; Ernest L. W. Burt, 2s 6d; Jack 1. Symona was convicted and discharged. For failing to notify change of address, Ernest G. Gambitsis was fined £1; Wilfred W. Wearne, George E. B. Wood, 10s each; Reginald D. Austin ss. Wearne was also fined 10s for failing to attend drill. Failure to register resulted in Wallis Hibberd being ordered to pay costs only —109.

Hector A. M'Donald, for damaging by neglect a rifle barrel, valued at Ss Od, was fined 10s.
