TITAHI LADIES' CLUB
A large nu.nber of members and .visitors attended the closing of, the Titahi Ladies' Gpl£ Club, .on Saturday, when a most enjoyable -afternoon -was spent.*?" The weather was-good and the links were in excellent condition. A foursome/over 12 holes was played, the winners bciug Misses Downes (Miramar) and Buncehall. A presentation was made to Miss Buncehall, the secretary of the club. Mi-. W. H. Smith, captain of the Titahi Golf Club, referred to the excellent work done by Miss Buncehall-during her term of office. He "said that she seemed thoroughly to understand the meaning of the word "efficiency" and also the art of combining efficiency with tact. He asked her, on behalf of the ladies, to accept a handsome handbag as a token of the esteem and appreciation in which she was held by them. Miss Buncehall briefly returned thanks and expressed her appreciation of the gift. • After afternoon tea, which has been provided by the ladies, Mr. Smith presented the prizes won during the sdason as follow:—Club championship, Miss Batham; runner-up. Miss W. Davis; junior championship, Miss M. Young: runner-up, Miss Farley; L.G.U. bronze medal, Miss Batham; L.G.U. bronze medal, Miss Avery; best net aggregate three ■ rounds; Miss Avery (trophy presented by the club captain, Miss Turner); flag match, Miss Drake (trophy presented by Mrs. Moore); foursome, Mrs. Hughes and Miss Farley; bogey competition, Miss Avery- flag match Miss W. Davis; eclectic, Mrs.: Murphybogey, competition, Misses White and Bath (tied); flag match, Mrs. Murphybest net aggregate two rounds, Miss White (trophy presented by Mrs. Simmons) ; flag match, Miss Harrison ■ competition match play on handicap, Miss Turner (trophy presented by the vicepresident, Mr. S. Brice); best net aggregate two rounds, Miss Byrne (trophy presented by the secretary); flag match Mrs. .Murphy; continuous bogey (first period) Miss Avery, (second period) Miss White; ringer competition (first period) ™l\ iilTOby,'', (second period) Miss Mitchell; L.G.U. competitions (silver buttons), Miss Avery (2), Miss Turner.
