PUBLIC SERVICE VOTE

"THE MARK OF PROPRIETY"

(By Telesraph.)

(Speoial to "The Evening Post.")

DUNEDIN, This Day. The "Otago Daily Times,".referring to the suggestion of a correspondent that the Public Service might throw a vote of unquestionable magnitude into the scale in favour of any political party that would give special consideration to the interests of the employees of the State, irrespective of those of the general community, remarks:— "Such an unblushing suggestion serves to illustrate the danger that is inherent in tho existence of a swollen service. If the Public Service ever steps into the political area and employs its voting strength in an effort either to reward .or to punish any political party, it will probably find it has overstepped what the taxpayers regard as the mark of propriety."
