SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.

Some fine work that led to many recalls was done by Mr. W. C. Tanner's band at the Sailors' Friend Society on Thursday. The performers were Misses Hyam, Jervise, Deberry, Cook, Bernasconi, White, Rothwell, Oates, and Messrs. Clancey, Draper, Whistler, Eaton, Thompson, Whitter, Draper, Tanner, Mogridge, and M'Kinnon. Mrs. Bernasconi was at the piano. Some good and novel work was done in the competitions, prizes for which came from London and Kelburn, and went to the Port Hardy, Piako, and Eangitira.
