EMPIRE THEATRE, ISLAND BAY.
Two productions are to be screened at the Empire Theatre to-night. The first attraction Is "The Duke Steps Out," with William Halnes In the leading role and Joan Crawford, Karl Dane, and Tom Holtz leading the supporting cast. Haines plays the role of a heavyweight champion who falls in love with a college girl, and, hiding his identity, coes to college to be near her. His trials and tribulations in Seeping his professional life from her and still fighting to defend his title makes a series of humorous episodes. "The Private Life of Helen of Troy," starring Alice White. Lewis Stone; and Maria Corda is the second special production. The programme is completed by a Hal Roach comedy, "Liberty," starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. On Saturday afternoon the serial, "Tarzan the Mighty," will commence at the Empire Theatre. A special competition Is being run with this serial.
