Since last night the depression covering New Zealand has Intensified considerably, and barometers are now extremely low in the South. Strong north to west winds have ruled, reaching gale force at places, particularly strong gales being reported at 9 a.m. to-day about Foveaux Strait. Unsettled, changeable weather has been experienced with rain in most parts, but only slight scattered falls have occurred in the eastern districts. Mild conditions have continued generally,' but there has been a marked drop in temperatures in the far South. TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
