WEDDINGS

The wedding was recently solemnised at St. James's Church, Lower Hutt, of Ethel Florence, daughter of the late Mr. E. Whiteman, Otaki, to Francis Thomas, third son of Mr. aud Mrs. H. Freeman, Waikanae. Archdeacon Hansell officiated, and Miss Hart played tho "Wedding March." The bride, who was escorted by Mr. A. V. Swanson, Wellington, wore sleeveless frock of ivory crepe satin, the skirt finished with a wide border of silver lace, falling from one side and kept in place by a diamante, buckle. The veil of embroidered tulle, was held in place by orange blossom , made fan-stylo. A shower bouquet of sweet peas,- carnations, and maidenhair fern was carried. Miss Marjorie Burrell, Upper Hutt, and Miss Kathleen Hitch, Lower Hutt, were bridesmaids. The former wore pale green georgette, and the latter maize georgette, and both wove gold crinoline hats to tone, also Rhinestone necklets, the gift of the bridegroom. Their presentation bouquets were of sweet peas. Misses Vera Swanson, Wellington, .. .d Edna Ralph, Otaki, were flower girls. The former was in pale lemon celanese taffeta, with gold head band and rosebud trimming, and carried a Victorian posy of sweet peas. The latter was in pale lavender celanese taffeta, with gold head band and rosebud trimming, and she also carried a Victorian posy of sweet peas. ' Both wore gold armlets, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. Albert Freeman, Waikanae, was best man, and Mr. Harold Whiteman (Otaki) groomsman. The reception was held at the Regal Tea-rooms, Lower Hutt, Mrs. J. Weir (sister of the bride) being hostess. She wore saxe blue crepe satin with hat to match. Mrs. Freeman (mother of the bridegroom) was in grey. Tho handsome weddiijg cake was the gift of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Swanson. Later, when Mr. and Mrs. F. Freeman left on a tour of the North Island, the brido- was wearing a navy blue ensemble with lemon,' and a hat to tone, and a fox fur,- the gift of the bridegroom.
