CONCESSION RETURNED
PERPETUAL LEASE GRANTED

RUGBY, 11th November. An agreement has been reached between the British Government and the JNational Government of the Republic of China, providing for the return to the latter as from 15th November of t-ho area of land known as the British Concession at Chinkiang, which was leased to the British Government in perpetuity in 1861. The British municipal administration of this will be dissolved and British municipal regulations repealed as from 15th November. The National Government has agreed as from the saino date to grant Chinese deeds of perpetual lease in exchange for the documents of title issued by the British Government.
The agreement was embodied in an exchange of Notes, which took place in Nanking on 31st October.
