LYALL BAY SCHOOL

The monthly meeting of the Lyall Bay Home and School Association was held on Monday evening. The president (Mr. i. W. Boyd) was in the chair. The School Committee wrote asking for a donation of £25 for- school requisites and minor improvements of the portion of the playground recently surfaced. . The application was sympathetically received, but it was decided to defer action until further; particulars had been . furnished lhe amount, it was stated, would be subject to a subsidy from the Education Board.; The treasurer (Mr. D. W. Olson) reported that the children's fancy dress party, ! realised £4 9s 6d. A vote of thanks was accorded the organisers, Mesdames.G. B. Topp and E. Ledger, and the teaching staff. It was reported that the bottle drive would take place early m the month. The concert arranged by Mr. Ledger will be held next Monday It was left to the president and j*e 'fdies committee in .consultation with the headmaster, to complete arrangements for a-Christmas party. !, A }?earty vote of thanks was accorded if « i1^, 8" 8? 1 for a cricket b3* lor the best all-round sports boy, and the committee decided to give a tennis racquet tor the best all-round 6ports girl Eegret was expressed that a "break-up" concert would not be held this year and the committee decided to accept"the offer of Mrs. Menard for her pupils to give an entertainment early in December
