WEDDINGS
The wedding, of Catherine, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Greig, of Wellington Southland Richard Spencer, only son of Mr. and Mrs. JR. Brown, of Island Bay, was solemnised at St. Thomas's .Church, Wellington South, recently, when the Rev. C. V Rooke officiated. Members of the Girls' Club had decorated the church and they also presented the bride with a fancy horseshoe after the ceremony. The bride, escorted by her father, entered the church in a dainty frock of Brussels lace, fastened at one side by i a diamante buckle. She also wore a Juliet cap and tulle veil, and carried a bouquet of roßes,' lilies of the valley, white lilac, and azaleas. The bridesmaids were Miss Ella Brown, in pale blue mariette, and Miss Jean Greig, in apricot mariette. Both carried dainty posies, and wore a gold armlet the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. John Greig was best man, and Mr. Andrew Jackson was the groomsman. The reception was held at the Mokoia Hall, where Mrs. Greig received her guests in a beige georgette and lace frock and a beige hat, with a scarlet posy. The bridegroom's mother wore black lace and a black hat trimmed with lime georgette. She carried an apricot posy. The bride travelled in a bois de rose frock of repp with a brown tailored coat, and wore a fox fur, the gift of the bridegroom.
The wedding was recently solemnised at St. Mark's Church of May Florence Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark, Oxford terrace, Wellington, to George T. A. Wright, son of ■Mr. and Mrs. Wright, Oamaru. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The bride was met at the door by the officiating clergyman, the Rev. Mr. Barnes, and Mr. L. Watkins was- at the. organ. The bride, who was accompanied by her father, was in a dainty gown of pink mariette with an embossed bodice and pleated skirt. She wore also a pink tulle veil arranged cap fashion and trimmed with orange blossom, and.a Rhinestone necklet, the gift- of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Misses Annie Dowdell and Evelyn Chamberlain, wearing charming gowns of green .with straw colour hats, and with bouquets of flowers. They also, wore: gold armlets the gifts of the bridegroom. Joyce Williams was a little flower girl, wearing pale pink, of the same tone as that worn by the bride, and she also carried a bouquet of flowers. As the bride left the church she was presented with a Good Luck" horseshoe by a small niece, and friends outside made an archway of pink and white- ribbons. Ihe wedding reception was held at the Basin Reserve Pavilion,, which was appropriately decorated, about 150 guests being present. Mrs. Clark received the guests wearing, a blue satin frock and hat, while Mrs; Wright (mother of the bridegroom) was in black and champagne colour, with a hat to match. The bride and bridegroom left later for a motor tour, the. bride wearing a navy costume, a lemon coloured hat, and fox furs.
_A recent wedding at Karori Methodist Church was that of Grace" Alexandra, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Raine, and Mr. Howard William Schlicting, of Melbourne. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. Raine (uncle of the bride), and the church was prettily decorated for the wedding. Mrs. B. Gamble provided the music. The bride was escorted by her brother, Mr. John Raine, and wore ivory georgette over pale pink satin, her em. broidered veil being held in place by orange blossoms The bouquet carried was of tulips, carnations, roses, and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Dorothy Garner (Palmerston North) was matron of honour, wearing a frock of rose beige georgette and lace, with a hat to tone, and carrying a bouquet of flowers. Two little flower girls, Mavis Topham and Marjorie Raine. were in dainty shell pink frocks, with posies to tone. Mr. Robert Raine was best man. Mrs. Raino woro a black embossed georgette frock, _ silk coat, and black hat, at the reception, and carried a bouquet of red roses. The bride travelled in a frock of brown crepe satin, with fox fur and hat to tone.
