Police cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with.by Mr. K. Page, S.M.

One first-offending inebriate was fined 10s, the amount of his bail.

"Drink seems to have been a big element in this offence," said Chief-Detec-tive Lopdell, when Jeremiah James Foley, a labourer, aged 33, appeared for sentence on a charge of stealing £7 from a fellow lodger. Foley was admitted to probation for two years, a condition being that he takes out a prohibition order.
