GRAMOPHONE RECORD PROFITS.
■ LONDON,: 10th. October. A.fresh record in profits was attained by the Gramophone Company, manufacturers of H.M.V. talking machines, and records, in the year to 30th June, 1929, the net balance on trading being £1,200,912. This is an increase of £68,498 on last year's recotd balance of £1,132,413,- which compared with £780,555 for the year preceding. With a final payment of 50 per cent., the distribution on the share capital is brought up to 60 per cent., as compared with 55 per cent, for 1927-2 S. Last year's -payment was on a paid-up capital of £1,260,----000. In April last, when announcing the interim 1 dividend, the directors intimated that they had decided to call up the balance of the capital due on 850,000 B ordinary, _which at June, 1928, were 12s per share paid. The call was payable 30th June, from which, date the whole of the ordinary shares were fully paid and ranked equally in all respects. This call brought the ordinary capital up to £1,600,000.
