ANNUAL DISTRICT SYNOD
The annual Wellington District Synod of the Methodist Church is now in progress.
The Ministerial Committee met in Tarimaki Street Church Parlour yesterday. After devotional exercises, the two probationers of the district were examined. Excellent reports t>t their work were presented in both cases. It was resolved that Charles 0. Haihvood and Norman R. Gutry be'passed in their year of probation, subject to the written examination boing satisfactory.
One candidate for the ministry presented himself.for examination; and after careful examination it was unanimously resolved to recommend to conference the acceptance of Mr. Bernard Chrystall for training in the Theological College. The Synod met this morning. The Synod opened with the Sacrament ot the Lord's Supper, at which the officiating ministers were the Revs. E. D. Patchett; chairman of the district, T. R. Richards, and C IT. Olds. TTie Communion was preceded by a devotional address by the Rev. B. J. James, of Petone.
About sixty delegates were present from the various circuits in the district, which extends from Eketahuna in the Wairarapa to Levin in the Manawatu. The following were elected officers of the Synod:—Secretary, the Rev. C. H. Olds, 8.A.; assistant secretary, the Rev. J. Dennis, journal secretary, the Rev. N. R. Gutry; reporters, the Revs. A. E. Jefferson and J. Bailey. The chairman, the Rev. E. .D. Patchett, welcomed the members, and delivered his synodical address on "Church Union,"
