DIRT-TRACK RACING
THREE-AUSTRALIAN EIDERS.
Advice was received to-day that another prominent Australian dirt track rider, Syd. Perkins, will be a competitor at the big meeting to be held at the Kilbirme Stadium Speedway next Saturday night. The appearance of this noted "broadsider" will further improve the prospects of outstanding performances being registered, as Perkins is credited with some, exceptionally fine feats on Australian tracks, and only last Saturday he distinguished himßelf at Christchurch by breaking the record of another Australian, Arthur Mann. Two other Australians, Jimmy Batson and Billy Sticpewich, who had a run o£ bad luck last Saturday, have also performed with distinction, putting up times better than any registered here, and on Saturdaj' night they will be seen in attempts to break the local record. With these three riders from the home o£ dirt track racing, as well as the best local talent, there should be a great display of all the features of this thrilling sport. For the big open event the entries constitute a record, and in the contest for the Golden Helmet, which provided many stirring races last season, the racing is expected to be very keen and exciting. It has been made a rule that when postponements are necessary *n Saturdays the meetings will be held on the following Monday nights.
