RAILWAY ARRANGEMENTS.
The Railway Department announces that the usual change-over from wintertime to summer-time running will this year take effect on 3rd November. The time-table gives Bpecial attention to the heavy through traffic between Wellington and the Manawatu districts. A fea-. ture of the schedules is an additional fast up and down train morning and evening between Wellington and Palmerston North. These trains willstop only at Paekakariki, Otaki. Levin., and Shannon. Intermediate passengers are catered for by a stopping train as at present except that the times have been slightly altered. The suburban time-table has also undergone sonie adjustment, to fit in 'with the other services. Details of the arrangements are advertised to-day. C'mmenciug on Sunday, 3rd November, Sunday trains will be run until further •notice between Wellington and Mastertoil and vice versa':"-*- :■' The times of the.special trains have been cast with a view'to meeting, the wishes of the majority of those desiring to travel to or from Wairarapa stations each Sunday. The first train for Masterton" leaves Wellington at 9 a.m., while the evening train leaves at 5.17 p.m. Trains for Wellington leave Masterton at 8.45 a.m. and 5.10 p.m. A very liberal reduction in existing passenger rates has been made with a view to placing the facilities within the reach of all classes of fhe communty. The return fare from Wellington to Carterton and Masterton, and. vice, versa, is 5s second class and 7s first class; from Petone and Lower Hutt to Featherston 3s 6d, ss; to Masterton, ss, 7s. ' A similar scale of fares app!ies_ as between any other two stations within the area of issue. Seats may be reserved on the special trains. Particulars of the train service to and from the Trentham Races on Monday, 28th October, will be found in the advertising columns of this issue.
