The health of the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. Sir Joseph "Ward) was reported to-day to have considerably improved._ Sir Joseph is now out of bed, and this morning he was transacting some public business. He hopes to resume his seat in the House of Representatives early nest week:
Mr. Justice Adams will return to Christchurch by the ferry steamer this evening.
Mr. W. Bromley has been elected president of the Wellington Trades and Labour Council, in place of Mr. F. Cornwell, who has resigned to take up the position of secretary.to the council.
Brigadier Alfred Greene, resident secretary of the Immigration and Settlement Department of the - Salvation Army, is returning to New Zealand by the Ulimaroa on Tuesday nest. Brigadier Greene lias been in England on departmental business, and on his return journey was Government welfare officer to a large party of emigrants travelling to Australia.
