RAIN SOON
CHANGE IN THE WEATHER
Wellington, liko most other places, experienced perfect weather yesterday but since then there has been evidence of the approach of the front of a rather deep depression from the Tasman Sea. Cloud has increased, especially in western districts of the South Island, and southward from Cook Strait northerly winds havo freshened. Thp north of the North Island has had less settled weather with strong easterly winds owing to a disturbance to the north of the Dominion. The- recent anti-cyclone is now getting out of range and is centred near the Chatham Islands, where to-day's barometer reading was 30.41 inches. "
Moderate to strong northerly winds are likely to become general and to reach gale force at times in northern and southern districts. The indications' are for an increase in cloud and mist gonerally. Although fair weather should be experienced at first in most parts, north of Kawhia • and Tauranga and south of Greymouth and Port Chalmers, unsettled conditions with rain developing will come into evidence-. General rain is probable within the next twonty-four hours, with temperatures remaining mild.
