OVERTIME CLAIM
STATEMENT KIDIGULED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr. Wright, secretary or the Auckland Employers' Association, ridicules the statement by Mr. Piirtell that on Mr. Justice Blair's award the brick, tile, and pottery workers will be able to eiaim £.5000 to cover overtime for the past five years. Mr. Wright says that Mr. Purtell ignores the fact that the wages previously paid were in accordance with the awards of the Arbitration Court, and be takes for granted that an opinion expressed by a temporary judge of the Court in making new awards will nullify the .previous awards made by five successive Judges of the Court. This was far from being the case, as the award could be upset only by a judgment of a Court of Appeal on a question of jurisdiction.
