LATE DR. STRESEMANN

ONE OF WORLD'S BEST SONS

CHANCELLORS TRIBUTE., United Press Association—By Electric Telicraph—Copyright Australian Press Association— United Service. (Received 7th October, 1 p.m.) BERLIN, 6th October. Vast crowds such as the capital has seldom seen witnessed the late Dr. Stresemann's funeral. Throughout the night the remains lay in the Keichstag amid masses of flowers overflowing the lobbies and corridors. In the morning a special session of the Reichstag was attended by the family of the deceased, President Hindenburg, and diplomatic representatives. The Chancellor, Herr Muller, delivered the memorial address, obviously labouring under physical difficulties, having barely recovered from a serious illness. The Chancellor declared that the whole world was mourning one of its best sons.

The casket was carried on the shoulders of members of the Foreign Office staff to an open coach hearse. The widow and sons followed, then President ■ Hindenburg and State officials. The procession halted for two minutes at the Foreign Office, where the public ceremony ended, and the President and diplomatic officials left the procession. Five black-peunanted 'planes hovered overhead. Among the wreaths were one from King George and one from the Crown Prince. The actual interment was at a suburban cemetery where Stresomann's parents were buried.
