CARE OF THE BEDDING
(Copyright.) • Good health depends largely upon good sleep, and good sleep depends largely upon a good bed. By a good bed is meant one that receives proper care. .'..■.-'■ Homes are: usually provided : with the best beds andbedding the family income, will permit. The mattress is much a matter of individual choice, but even the best mattress will cause uncomfortable-. sleep if it does not receive proper care. In fact, beneficial sleep is dependent upon the daily care of the bedding. If the, bed covers are just tossed back over tlie foot ofi tho bed and when the bed; is made these are merely turned back in place again, that bed will not give the restful sleep essential to good health. It is surprising how many. beds are made in just that. way. Only when the sheets are changed is the bed properly made, and not always then sometimes. ■ J
The housewife should train the members of the family to take off the bed coverings and hang them over chairs, then, open the windows before they leave their rooms in the morning. Then when she is ready to mako her beds she will find them '■ thoroughly aired. Mattresses are usually made in two parts, so it •will not be a hard task to turn theni around and over every day— i this is a matter of economy as well as comfort. The- pillows ' should not be shaken when taken off the bed. It is better to allow the surface that hasboon lain upon to air. This is a sanitary precaution, for the fresh air will penetrate the upper layer of feathers. When beginning the be'd-niaking, the pillows should bo thoroughly shaken and placed at the open window while the bed is being made. In this way all tho feathers will be freshened.
A thoroughly aired bed will be more sanitary and it will warm up more quickly when you get into it at night. A bed thus entirely, remade, turned, and aired each day js conducive to absolute .relaxation, and the restful 7and comfortable sleep obtained scores high in tho gqneral health of the sleoper. So why not give the family tho benefit of this aid to good health?
