TIMARU TO CHRISTCHURCH
(By Telegraph.—Press Association ) / TIMARU, This Day. Die first riders in the Timaru-Christ-cliuroh road race left. at 9 o'clock, and the scratch men- at 10 o'clock. The weather was perfect and the roads are said to be in good condition. Of the ninety-one entrants, eighty-five took the road. The most notable non-starter was N. Bellhouse of New Plymouth. All the arrangements worked perfectly, but there was a lack of enthusiasm. There was scarcely a cheer as tho men took the road.
ASHBUETON, This Day. In the Tinmru road race, threo riders including Hubbard> (Ashburton) 48min and T. Connolly (Temuka) 46min, passed through Ashburtou at 12.16, riding woll, followed a minute later by a bunch of fifteen riders.
The scratch men, Watson, M'Cann, and Hill, passed through at 12.37. Bollringcr (Now Plymouth) did not start." . ■ '-. • . ■ ' .
