! ..Tlie next '.work to bo performed by the Orpbous Musical Society'at the Town Hall Concert Chamber, on Thursday, 10 th October, is Weber's "Der Froischutz." The libretto is based on a popular tradition familiar to German huntsmen, that whoever would seoK the aid of..the Demon hunter may have in exchange for his soul seven magic bulletn, certain to hit the desired mark. If, within a given time, the. huntsman so favoured falls to allure another within, tha Demon's power, his life becomes forfeit. -Agatha is the favoured. aamsol, and 'Ma* is her lover, but Caspar, his rival, has possessed himself of the magic halls. Fortunately tho time limit for the efficacy of the bullets has expired, and instead of hitting Max, the innocent lover, as the Demon had promised, the shot pierces the heart of Caspar. Justice triumphs, and Max and Agatha celebrate their nuptials. Perhaps the most well-known number in this opera 1b the popular "Huntsman's Chorus." The soloists for this production will be Mrs. Amy Woodward, Miss Jeariette Brlggs, Miss Ngalre Coster, Mr. Stuart Nelson, and Mr. B. J. Madigan.
