The Bank of New. Zealand, produce department; has received the following advice from its London office, dated 4th. October:—The sales have closed with fair competition at the lower levels. .Current quotations: Merino, super 15% dto WM per Ib, ordinary 13d to 14d, inferior lOd to 12d; halfbreds, 15d to 16d; crossbreds, fine 14d to UMsd, medium,-13a to 13Md, coarse 12% dto 13d. ..■■.-•■ 1-

Messrs. levin and Co., Ltd., have re-' ceived the following cable from their London agents, dated 4th October:—The auctions closed here to-day. The market shows an irregular tendency, with fair competition, at reduced prices. As compared with the opening rates, we quote: Greasy merino, bestld per -1b lower, average Id; fine halfbreds, 50/36's, Id; halfbreds/ 48/50's,- Id; fine crossbreds, 46/48's, %d; medium crossbreds, 44/46's, %d; coarse crossbreds, 40/44's, Id; low crossbreds, 36/----40's, %d, all lower. Scoured merinos and 'scoured crossbred,7% per cent, lower. [Slipe'. wools .generally .steady, except i scoured pieces, which show a further decline .of 7% per cent.. . . Messrs. Dalgety and Co., London, report, 4th October:—Sales closed fairly active; competition good for average to! gpod'at lqwer. teyels; inferior somewhat neglected. As compared with closing rates of last series, greasy merino 3d to 3%d lower (mostly withdrawn), scoured merino 5d to 6d, super scoured merino 2%' dto 3d, greasy crossbred 2d to 2^d, scoured crossbred 3d to Sd, greasy fine crossbred l%d to 2'/4d, greasy medium crossbred l%d i» 2d, greasy coarse crossbred Id to 2d, scoured crossbred Sid to "3d, fine combing slipe 2d to 3d, slipes other descriptions Id to l%d, greasy lambs*2d to 3d, all lower. Offered 143,303 bales. Continent have bought 59,000 bales, home trade 45,000, America 5000, carried forward 61,500, of which 33,000 bales were iiot offered. Total sold, 109,000 bales. The following is the range 'of prices :—Merino: Good to super, 15d to I7d; low to medium, lid to MVtd. Halfbred, 56-58: Good to super, led to 18d; low to medium, 12'Zjd to 15% d. Halfbred, 50-56: ; Good to super, 15d to llid; low to medium, 12d to 14% d. Fine crossbred, 48-50: Good to super, 13% dto lod; low to medium, ll%d to ]3%d. Fine crossbred, 48-50: Good to super,l3?id to 14% d; low to medium, Hl/£d to 13'zid. Crossbred, 44-46: Good to super, 13d to Wid; low to medium. ll%d to 12% d. Crossbred, 40-44: Good to super, 1294 dto 13% d; low to medium, lid to 12' M. Coarse crossbred, 36-40: Good to super, 12% dto 13% d; medium to good, lid to 12% d.

The Hscw Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following advice from its London house, dated 4th October:—Wool sales closed to-day. As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are lower about 10 per cent, for coarse greasy crossbred and medium and coarse scoured crossbred, lower about 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, for crossbred lambs, greasy merino super, medium greasy crossbred, and flue crossbred slipe lower about 15 per ceut. for scoured merino super lambs, merino fine greasy crossbred and fine scoured crossbred; lower about 20 per cent, for greasy merino inferior and scoured merino medium, lower about 15 to 20 per cent, for greasy merino medium, lower about 20 to 25 per cent. | for scoured merino inferior,- lower about IVz to 10 per cent, for medium crossbred slipe, and 5 to 7'/i per cent, lower for coarse crossbred slipe and crossbred slipe clothing.
