RUAPEHU LEAVES PANAMA. i p?h4 Kuapehu, en routo from Southampton, left Panama on Sunday for Wellington, where sne is due on the 27th October. WAINUI'S RESTING PLACE. The hull of the Union Company's former steamer Wainul has been sold to Mr B Shakespeare, who will use the vessel for a breakwater at Whangaparaoa. Built at Dumbarton in 1886 the Wainul afterwards had a sea service of 41 years in the coastal trade under the Union Company's flag. Her last ,18 months of service were In tho Gisborne-Napier-Auckland trade. She was withdrawn from commission at the beginning of June, 1927, and was replaced by the Anchor Line steamer Waimea. Last, June the Wainul was sold to shipbreakers, and since then she has been dismantled. As soon as all the machinery and flttings have been landed the shell of the vessel will be towed to its last restingplace, as was done with the company's larger steamers Monowai.
