CANTERBURY MARKETS.
\ (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) i ■ CHKISTCHURCH, Ist October. , T&ere is very little movement in the • potato market. The Wingatui left Lyt■tSlton on Saturday night with a cargo of ; 5600 sacks, rather more than was expected, making, with the Timaru complement, a , shipment of 7000 sacks. The Kurow will be loading this week at both ports, and is expected to take a fairly substantial quantity from Timaru. . . . "Prompts," are quoted at £8 5s to. £8 .^los, f.0.b., s.i., and Octobers at £9 to £9 10s. There .is little disposition to trade in this delivery. Farmers are being offered £6 15a to £7 a. ton on trucks. There is much difference o£ opinion, as to growers' holdings. It is generally be- • hoved that they are light in the Central district, but. a few fairly solid. holders are still reported from the Ashburton district.. ;. , The chaff market is not so firm consequent on a heavy shipment, approximately 730 'tons arriving from Australia in Auckland. About 90 tons were shipped north from Lyttelton last week. Values f.ob., s.i., are, £6 5s to £6 10s, and on trucks to £i 10s. Oats are firm in price, but very little is doing. The seed market is unchanged. i
