REPRESENTATIONS TO FINANCE ; MINISTER .

As the Finance Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) is considering representations which havo been mc.de to him on the subjoct, tho Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill will not bo brought on for committal in the House of Eepresentatives to-day.

A deputation from the flax-milling industry waited on Sir Joseph yesterday to point out that the proposals in regard to tho super land tax might result in great harm being done to tho industry. It was stated that the industry was not flourishing owing to low prices caused by competition with hemp produced by cheap labour in other parts of the world.

Tho Primo Minister promised to give careful consideration to the representations. . ■■ ,
