an important position. Tho speaker detailed Mr. Cull's career and men- » Jtioned some of the works with which ; he had been associated. He joined the . Department as a designing engineer, ■was demonstrator. in mechanical engineering at .Canterbury College, and had .{Men associated with the Auckland Harbour Board, and the electrification pf^.Otira tunnel. Mr. Cull had been fllso on the Railways Coal Inquiry Board .and on tho advisory committee /, eet .up in conne'etion with the Mani i : Fomare. . , - .The Hon. E. A. Ransom waa asked .to, present'Mr. Cull with a water-colour of Island Bay by Mr. T. M'^Cormick, an electric clock, and a combination thermometer and barometer. The Minister .said that Mr. Cull would leave behind him tangible evidence of his , ability in the many works he had designed,. In his travels the speaker' ■ , iad marvelled at the wonderful construction of viaducts, bridges, and .other w.orks with which Mr. "Cull had ; been, connected. He hoped that in his v work at the University he would gain still further experience and pass his.Jcnowledge on. Mr.' C. J. M'Kenzie, on ' behalf of ■ the combined staffs, presented Mr. Cull with, a case of pipes, and also a camera .for.his daughter. He also congratu- ..
