STAFF DANCES
ATLANTIC UNION OIL COMPANY
Members ot" tie staff social club of the Atlantic Union Oil Company were responsible for the excellent arrangements at the company's first annual dance at the Majestic Cabaret last night. The committee spared no effort in an endeavour to produco something original in the way of decorative effect. Huge sunflowers leaned sedately against the pillars on each corner of the dance floor, and in various nooks aud crannies around the room there were placed miniature gardens, blossoming with hollyhocks. The decorations, with the bright colourings, shading from pale yellow to a deeper shade, harmonised most attractively with the pretty frocks worn by the ladies, and a picturesque scene was the result. The Hostesses for the evening were: Mrs. E. G. Martin (black silk lace over a shell pink slip); Mrs. Byron E. Mills (pale pink georgette j patterned in gold and crystal); Mrs P. 11. Davey (black' chiffon with touches of flame); Mrs. A. Richardson (powder blue beaded georgette). Amona those present were: Mr. and Mrs. X A. Sovier (the latter wearing cyclamen georgette and taffeta), Mr. and Mrs. jH. A. Newton (black eharmouse and silver), Mr. and Mrs. D. J. M'Gowan (rose and blue embossed chenille) Mr and Mrs. T. Nicholson (ivory beaded and black georgette), Mr. Hindmarsh, Miss Miller, Mmd Mrs. L. Hut ton (black lace), Mr. and Mrs. Barnott (black lace), Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Ilott (silver; lace), Mesdames H. Adams (cream lace), 2f. Alexander (black chifron velvet), W. P., Jarisen (flame georgette), B. Brown (ivory embroidered taffetas), E. leaser (peach georgette), E. Legge (blue embossed georgetfc over silk), Misses G. Gully (silver lace and rose georgette), \V. Maskell (black beaded georgette), P. Fitz-Gerald (black cluffon and lace), E. Burt (shell-pink georgette), C. Guy (powder blue gcorcetto and Silver lace), E. Silcock (flame georgette and lace), E. Sneddon (lemon floral satin), S. Emerson (French blue taffetas), M. Gordon (ivory and black with touches of red). The committee responsible for the arrangements were Misses G. Bevans (white and silver), B. Martin (blue panne velvet) E Bell (blue taffeta), and Mr. G. E. Weir. Mr. P. B. Wright was the.secretary.' During the evening an eccentric dance was given depicting "Alice in Wonderland," with Hazel Martin as "Alice" and Cyril Tilly as "The Mad Hatter!" Items were also given by Billy Hart at the piano. ' "
